Have you ever been dobbed in, and for what??????????

today was a good day.

saturday, no witnessing, no meeting prep, no skirt and no dubs, no rush to do anything in particular, went to the mall to get some things, bumped into my brother (non dub) and his partner and my 3yo neice, had coffee with them and hubby, chatted, came home, kelpie dropped by to visit, went grocery shopping with my neighbour, ......................just to mention a few things.

doing what i wanted to do!.

I got dobbed in a couple of times for smoking (I was) and continually got lectures and hassle for my like of heavy metal music. I once even got dobbed in for being seen snogging at a bus stop on my way to school one morning.

The incident that really got under my skin was one summer when I was staying at an elder's house and got dragged in to a room by him and another elder and grilled about someone else in the congregation. Turns out she was engaging in a bit of what she fancied with her fiance a couple of months before their marraige and I got hassle for not ratting them out, despite not being close friends of theirs and not knowing anyway.

how is your self confidence?

one of the things that i have noticed since i have been out of the borg is how my self confidence always seems to be in the dumper.

i don't know if this is beause we were never permited to have any original thoughts or if it is just a personality flaw.

i am always looking for assurance from my fiancee, friends, and coworkers that i am doing good.

I know where you're coming from, for a long time I felt like nobody liked me because all of my 'friends' who were dubs had disowned me and I knew very few people that I had anything in common with. I still find it difficult to do smalltalk at times with people I don't feel totally comfotable with. Things change, my wife has done wonders for my self esteem - often with a 'don't be so friggin stupid, you're a great bloke' type comments. You will get through it, just be open with your fiancee

did you leave the watchtower society and the true god ,too?.

i believe that god still helps some of the of the ones still "traped" in the org.

- god helped me greatly while i was still in.

I totally agree, basically he is agreeing with a belief construct that says that might is right, because the christian god says 'worhip/love/respect me or I'll kill you' where's the love in that?

I am firmly of the belief that religion truly is the opium of the masses and appeals to those in pain or with some hole in their life - the loss of a loved one or the breakdown in a relationship. Why would someone with a fulfilled life fall for this crap?

i apreciate your kind hearted feelings towards posters here but your attitude really troubles me. You have left an organisation which controls it's flock by the twisted use of scripture to deny the opportunity to question it's edicts, yet we are clearly encouraged in scripture to question what we are taught.

Those who do not question are open to being mislead by the interpretation of men, if there is a god (and I am not totally convinced) then he wouldn't be the egotistical being described in the bible. Wake up and examine what you are being taught, It's BS

It could be worse, my father decided a couple of months before my wedding that it would 'trouble his conscience' to attend. I was disfellowshipped in '90 and didn't have anything to do with him for 6 or 7 years but he had a bad time one year and broke the ice. Since then he's regularly called to get help fixing his PC and we've met up for the occasional drink and rugby match. Out of the blue he decides that his conscience is troubled, fking prick.

Not giving the org a bad name

i've been out of the org in mind for three months (formally for only two weeks) but i find that i often feel that old familiar impulse to supress myself if i start to say something that could be construed as negative to the organizaton.

do you still feel that?

like, i might hesitate to tell my neighbor that i didn't associate with my dad for six years because of the df/da policy.

I've been out since '90 although I started attending meetings and was nearly reinstated in ''97 and still defend them in discussions when people are coming out with the normal misconstrued BS. I don't talk about that long period of my life now except occasionally on discussion boards like this one

I remember about 10 years ago there was a case of a 9 year old giving birth in south america, somewhere like Peru or Bolivia, it was all over the papers here as she had got pregnant at 8. Following the story afterwards they reported that her body aged really badly as her developing body had been screwed up by the pregnancy.

so many of us on this forum have criticised the watchtower society for their obscene blood transfusion/fractions policies.

quite right too.. it begs the question though; what are you doing about blood now that you have a more tolerant and informed perspective?

I'm a blood donor and would certainly have a blood transfusion should I need it. If I can help save someone's life in the here and now I sure as hell will. I pity the poor saps who think that leading a miserable life now will get you a better existance in the hereafter

this represented a change in his previous instructions to the jury that they should return a unanimous verdict.

it seems that perhaps 1 or 2 jurors were refusing to accede to the majority view and so this new instruction was intended to overcome this 'obstacle' in the interests of achieving a verdict.

it didn't take long.

no he wasn't, just a sick and twisted SOB who murdered two ten year old girls and disposed of the bodies. His story was that they were in his bathroom as one had a nosebleed and one banged their head on the bath and died. The second died as he strangled her trying to shut up her screaming, obviously an accident.
